A New National Architecture
The Indigenous Centre of Vocational Excellence (ICOVE) is a First Nations-led national initiative established under the Australian Government's National Skills Agreement and aligned with Closing the Gap reforms.
Delivered in partnership between Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS) and Tranby Aboriginal Co-operative Limited (Tranby), ICOVE has been created to strengthen how the vocational education and training (VET) system works for First Nations people through stronger partnerships, capability building, innovation and policy leadership.

The Role: Coordinating National Impact
ICOVE is seeking an Executive Officer - Office of the CEO to join its growing national team. This role will be based at the Tranby office in Glebe, NSW.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide high-level executive, strategic and governance support and play a key role in coordinating the effective operation of the Office of the CEO.
Working closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, you will help coordinate executive priorities, governance processes, strategic projects, organisational reporting and stakeholder engagement. You will ensure key decisions and priorities are followed through, actions remain on track, and emerging issues and risks are identified and appropriately escalated.
The role will also support engagement with government, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, education and training providers and other national stakeholders, while contributing to ICOVE's broader policy, research, innovation and workforce development agenda.

Here's What You'll Be Working On
As Executive Officer - Office of the CEO, you'll provide high-level executive, strategic and governance support to the CEO, helping to keep priorities moving, decisions actioned and key commitments on track.
In this role, you'll:
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations and priorities of the Office of the CEO
- Manage executive workflows, priorities, correspondence, briefings and confidential documentation
- Prepare high-quality briefing papers, reports, presentations and executive correspondence
- Coordinate Executive Leadership Team and governance meetings, including agendas, papers, action registers and follow-up
- Monitor strategic priorities, key deliverables and organisational actions, identifying emerging risks or issues
- Coordinate CEO-sponsored strategic projects and cross-functional initiatives
- Support organisational reporting, executive dashboards and reporting against ICOVE's strategic priorities
- Coordinate engagement with government, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), education and training providers and other national stakeholders
- Support the CEO with strategic communications, stakeholder enquiries, speeches, presentations and briefings
- Help strengthen executive systems, governance processes and continuous improvement across ICOVE
You'll work closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team in a trusted role requiring strong organisation, initiative, sound judgement and discretion. The Profile: Organised, Strategic and Proactive
You are highly organised, proactive and confident working in a fast-paced executive environment where priorities can shift and sound judgement matters.
You enjoy bringing structure to complex work, keeping priorities and actions on track, and making sure the CEO has the information, coordination and support needed to make informed decisions. You'll be comfortable working with sensitive and confidential information, managing competing priorities and engaging professionally with senior leaders and stakeholders.
Based at the Tranby office in Glebe, NSW, you'll work closely with and provide direct support to the CEO while helping coordinate an Executive Leadership Team and broader national team working across multiple locations.
To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
- Demonstrated experience providing high-level executive support to a CEO, Executive Director or other senior executive within a complex environment
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Experience coordinating executive or governance processes, meetings, actions and documentation
- Strong written communication skills, with experience preparing high-quality briefings, reports, presentations and executive correspondence
- The ability to exercise sound judgement, initiative and discretion when managing sensitive or confidential matters
- Strong relationship-building skills and confidence engaging with senior executives, government agencies and a diverse range of stakeholders
- An understanding of governance, strategic planning, policy, research, innovation and/or workforce development
- A Diploma or tertiary qualification in Business, Governance, Public Administration, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience
The following experience will also be highly regarded:
- Experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation or with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, communities and stakeholders
- Understanding of the Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and national skills system
- Experience supporting policy, research, innovation or workforce development initiatives
- Experience working within a nationally focused or multi-jurisdictional environment
- Qualifications or experience in governance, company secretariat or project management
