Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) is the peak regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established in 1986, KAMS was formed to provide a unified voice for Aboriginal health and wellbeing, and to deliver centralised resources and collective advocacy in partnership with its Member Services. KAMS is governed by a Board of Directors made up of Aboriginal health leaders from across its Member Services.

Our vision is that all Kimberley Aboriginal people are empowered to be strong, healthy, and connected through Aboriginal community-controlled services. 
Our purpose is to deliver holistic health and wellbeing outcomes in partnership with Aboriginal-led organisations, centred around Aboriginal culture and knowledge.

Position Overview

The Program Support Coordinator will be based in Broome, WA on a full-time basis. This role will oversee the development, implementation, and review of clinical frameworks within KAMS Remote Health Centres, ensuring alignment with the KAMS Model of Care and relevant health standards. This role will support leadership teams and staff in integrating primary healthcare programs, managing funding contracts, and achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Additionally, the coordinator will facilitate health promotion activities, support Telehealth services, and ensure compliance with quality improvement systems, contributing to the overall effectiveness of health services provided to Aboriginal communities.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in healthcare, particularly within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, and demonstrate advanced clinical skills.

  • Eligibility for national registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner with knowledge of primary healthcare programs.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills with clear communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently and collaboratively.

The successful candidate will be committed to cultural sensitivity in healthcare delivery, have sound computer skills, and hold a valid “C” class WA driver’s licence. Frequent travel by 4-wheel drive and small aircraft, including overnight stays, is required, along with a current National Police Clearance or the willingness to obtain one.

Salary & Benefits

This position offers a base salary of $127,618 along with additional benefits including:

  • Accommodation allowance: $13,000 per annum (pro rata)
  • District Allowance: $2,149 (Single) or $4,298 (Double) per annum (pro rata) 
  • Electricity Allowance: $1,400 per annum (pro rata)
  • Annual Airfare Benefit: $1,285 per annum (available after 12 months of continuous service)
  • Salary Packaging: Access to generous salary packaging benefits of up to $30,000 per annum, allowing you to increase your take-home pay through tax-effective arrangements.
