Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) is the peak regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established in 1986, KAMS was formed to provide a unified voice for Aboriginal health and well-being, and to deliver centralised resources and collective advocacy in partnership with its Member Services. KAMS is governed by a Board of Directors made up of Aboriginal health leaders from across its Member Services.
Our vision is that all Kimberley Aboriginal people are empowered to be strong, healthy, and connected through Aboriginal community-controlled services. Our purpose is to deliver holistic health and well-being outcomes in partnership with Aboriginal-led organisations, centred around Aboriginal culture and knowledge.
KAMS is a proud member of the Aboriginal Health Council of WA (AHCWA), the Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia (CASWA), and the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO).
Position Overview
The Community Liaison Officer will be based in Bidyadanga on a Part-time basis. This role plays a key part in bridging the gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and the health services they require. This position focuses on enhancing service delivery through cultural support, advocacy, and fostering connections within the community.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide culturally appropriate support for clients and their families, assisting health centre staff in connecting with Aboriginal clients.
- Support clients in accessing health services, including medical appointments and health assessments.
- Identify and address clients’ physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs, facilitating connections with family and community.
- Advocate for clients to resolve issues and concerns, and assist with the orientation of new staff.
- Facilitate understanding and communication between clients, families, and the health centre team.
- Liaise with community agencies to enhance client support and access to services.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a dedicated individual who is passionate about community health and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cultural sensitivity and the ability to work collaboratively with Indigenous communities.
- Must be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse Indigenous populations.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Commitment to promoting confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Well-developed knowledge of community agencies and services.
- Possession of a ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence and a current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.
Salary & Benefits
This position offers a base salary of $70,292 per annum pro rata, along with benefits including:
- Annual airfare of $1,285 (after 12 months of service)
- Optional salary sacrifice up to $30,000 per annum pro rata.
