Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) is the peak regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established in 1986, KAMS was formed to provide a unified voice for Aboriginal health and wellbeing, and to deliver centralised resources and collective advocacy in partnership with its Member Services. KAMS is governed by a Board of Directors made up of Aboriginal health leaders from across its Member Services.

Position Overview
Cancer Support Lead will be based in Broome, WA on a full-time basis. This role is a senior clinical leadership role within the KAMS Remote Services Team, based in Broome and supporting remote Kimberley communities including Beagle Bay, Bidyadanga and Kutjungka.
This role provides clinical leadership, coordination and culturally safe cancer care for Aboriginal clients across the cancer care continuum, including screening, early detection, treatment support, survivorship and palliative care. Working within a multidisciplinary framework, the Clinical Lead supports integrated care delivery and improved health outcomes for clients living in remote and very remote communities.
This role provides leadership and supervision to the Cancer Support Nurse and three Health Promotion Officers – Cancer Care, supporting high-quality service delivery, workforce development and continuous quality improvement across the program
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and expert cancer care advice to the Remote Services Team.
- Facilitate the development and improvement of cancer care pathways and clinical protocols.
- Organise community health promotion events focused on cancer awareness and education.
- Maintain comprehensive clinical documentation and assist with data collection for performance monitoring.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and advocate for culturally safe care practises.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to Aboriginal Community Control. A clinical background in cancer care or primary health care, along with the ability to work effectively in remote settings, is essential.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated leadership in complex clinical environments.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Valid C Class Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel.

Salary & Benefits
This position offers a base salary of $130,221, along with additional benefits including:
- Accommodation allowance: $13,000 per annum (pro rata)
- District Allowance: $2,149 (Single) or $4,298 (Double) per annum (pro rata)
- Electricity Allowance: $1,400 per annum (pro rata)
- Annual Airfare Benefit: $1,285 per annum (available after 12 months of continuous service)
- Salary Packaging: Access to generous salary packaging benefits of up to $30,000 per annum, allowing you to increase your take-home pay through tax-effective arrangements.
Please note that this position is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 12 months.
