Founded in 1986, KAMS serves as a unified voice for Aboriginal health and well-being, providing essential resources and advocacy in collaboration with its Member Services.

Position Overview

The SEWB Learning & Development Coordinator will be based in Broome on a Full-time basis. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of the SEWB workforce across the Kimberley region. This position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of learning and development programs tailored to the needs of the Social and Emotional Well-being and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) sectors, in alignment with the WA Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services SEWB model of care.

This role involves close collaboration with internal teams, member services, and external partners to assess training needs, develop support plans, and ensure effective delivery of workforce initiatives. You will work to build strong partnerships with community organisations, ensuring the SEWB workforce is equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver high-quality services.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are seeking a dedicated and culturally competent individual who is passionate about improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal communities. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • Strong understanding of Cultural Security principles in service delivery.
  • Tertiary qualification relevant to the role or significant experience in a similar position.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate projects effectively.
  • Experience in developing training programs based on adult learning principles.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • C Class Drivers’ Licence and willingness to travel regionally.
  • Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.

Experience within a mental health or Aboriginal health context, particularly in the Kimberley region, is highly desirable.

Salary & Benefits

This position offers a competitive base salary of $92,338 per annum pro rata, along with various allowances including:

  • Accommodation Allowance of $13,000 per annum pro rata
  • Annual Airfare of $1,285 (after 12 months of service)
  • Electricity Allowance of $1,440 per annum pro rata
  • District Allowance of $2,920 (single) or $5,840 (double) per annum pro rata
  • Optional Salary Sacrifice up to $30,000 per annum pro rata
