Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) is the leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, dedicated to advocating for Aboriginal health and well-being since 1986. With a governance structure comprised of Aboriginal health leaders, KAMS represents eight independent Aboriginal organisations and aims to provide holistic health services that are culturally responsive and community-driven.
Our vision is to empower Kimberley Aboriginal people to achieve strong, healthy connections through community-controlled services. KAMS offers a comprehensive range of programs, including mental health services, renal health, and integrated support, all aimed at improving health outcomes in line with the ACCHS Model of Care.
Position Overview
The Clinical Lead, Mental Health & SEWB Services will be based in Broome on a Full-time 12 month Fixed-term Contract. You will be pivotal in delivering clinical leadership and governance oversight across KAMS’ SEWB programs. This role is rooted in the principles of self-determination and community control, acknowledging the strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The Clinical Lead will enhance culturally informed, trauma-informed, and community-led mental health services and drive initiatives focused on suicide prevention and healing across the Kimberley.
This position involves oversight of culturally responsive interventions, advocacy, and workforce development initiatives while ensuring alignment with the ACCHS SEWB Model of Care and National SEWB Framework.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to mental health and social and emotional well-being services, with substantial experience in clinical leadership and community engagement.
- Qualification as a Mental Health Clinician with current registration with a relevant professional body.
- Proven experience in delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions and mental health assessments.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams and driving clinical governance.
- Understanding of the social and emotional well-being needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
We seek an individual who is passionate about enhancing mental health services while working collaboratively within a dynamic team environment. Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for building effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Salary & Benefits
This position offers a competitive base salary of $141,153 per annum pro-rata, along with additional benefits including:
- Accommodation Allowance of $13,000 per annum pro-rata
- Annual Airfare of $1,285 per annum (after 12 months of service)
- District Allowance of $2,920 (single) or $5,840 (double) per annum pro-rata
- Electricity Allowance of $1,440 per annum pro-rata
- Optional Salary Sacrifice up to $30,000 per annum pro-rata
