Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) is the peak regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established in 1986, KAMS was formed to provide a unified voice for Aboriginal health and well-being and to deliver centralised resources and collective advocacy in partnership with its Member Services.

Governed by a Board of Directors composed of Aboriginal health leaders from across its Member Services, KAMS is dedicated to empowering all Kimberley Aboriginal people to be strong, healthy, and connected through community-controlled services. Our holistic approach to health and well-being is centred around Aboriginal culture and knowledge, ensuring that our services effectively meet the needs of the community.

Position Overview

The Executive Officer to the Deputy CEO will be based in Broome on a Full-time basis. You will play a vital role in ensuring the effective functioning of the Executive Management Team (EMT) while supporting the Deputy CEO in managing various strategic and organisational priorities. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative, logistical, and policy support, contributing to the organisation’s commitment to excellence and sound decision-making.

Working closely with the Communications team, the Executive Officer will also be instrumental in developing and implementing an internal communications strategy, enhancing engagement within the organisation.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the health and well-being factors affecting Kimberley Aboriginal people and demonstrate exceptional administrative and governance skills. You should be capable of engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders, including health leadership and government representatives.

  • Excellent understanding of Aboriginal health issues
  • High-level administrative skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organisational skills with experience in high-level meeting support
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one
  • Current C-Class Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel

Salary & Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a base salary of $81,040 per annum, along with the following benefits:

  • Accommodation Allowance of $13,000 per annum pro rata
  • Annual Airfare of $1,285 per annum (after 12 months of service)
  • District Allowance of $2,920 (single) or $5,840 (double) per annum pro rata
  • Electricity Allowance of $1,440 per annum pro rata
  • option to salary sacrifice up to $30,000 per annum pro rata
