Position Overview

As the SEWB Aftercare Support Officer within the Culture Care Connect (CCC) program, you will be at the forefront of a transformative initiative aimed at addressing the significant challenges posed by suicide and mental health crises in Aboriginal communities. Your work will merge compassion with action, offering critical aftercare services to individuals and families affected by crisis, while fostering community resilience and wellbeing.

In this role, you will collaborate with the SEWB Team and other stakeholders to ensure that culturally appropriate services are delivered, fostering connections between community-controlled and mainstream health services. Your commitment to self-determination and cultural safety will guide your approach as you work tirelessly to develop and implement best practises in aftercare support.

Your Unique Contribution

  • Bring your passion for Aboriginal health and wellbeing to life through direct aftercare support and training initiatives.
  • Utilise the SEWB framework to enhance the capacity of local communities in suicide prevention and mental health advocacy.
  • Engage with community working groups to identify and prioritise needs in alignment with the Kimberley Aboriginal Suicide Prevention Plan.
  • Participate in community education efforts that raise awareness and promote mental health literacy.

Your role extends beyond traditional support; it encompasses a deep commitment to building relationships, fostering understanding, and instilling hope within the communities you serve. Your expertise will be vital in creating a localised service delivery model for aftercare that resonates with the unique cultural fabric of the Kimberley.

Who You Are

  • Aboriginality is a core requirement, with a strong personal connection to the Kimberley community.
  • You possess relevant qualifications in Social and Emotional Wellbeing or Mental Health, with a dedication to continuous learning.
  • As a certified or aspiring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid Instructor, you are committed to enhancing community capacity.
  • Your experience in mental health and social wellbeing is complemented by excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
  • This role is identified as a female-only position due to genuine occupational requirement.

For your hard work and dedication to this role, you will receive a base salary of $77,663  per annum pro rata + super. 

In addition to this salary, you will have access to a further host of benefits, including:

  • Accommodation allowance of $13,000;
  • Electricity allowance of $1,440 p.a;
  • mobile allowance $50 /month
  • District allowance of $2,920 p.a. (single) or $5,840 p.a. (double);
