Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) serves as the peak regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established in 1986, KAMS champions the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people through advocacy, resources, and a unified voice.

Position Overview

The Elder Care Support (ECS) position is based in Broome on a Full-time (Fixed Term Contract ending 30/06/2026). This program aims to enhance access to aged care services for older First Nations people, fostering community connections and support. As the Workforce and Training Project Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting ECS Connectors and Coordinators, ensuring they have the necessary training and resources to provide high-quality, culturally safe support to Elders.

This position is vital in building the capacity of the ECS workforce, allowing Elders to access services that meet their diverse needs. You will help coordinate training, develop communication materials, and engage with the community, all while working under the guidance of the Workforce and Training Coordinator.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a passionate and proactive individual who is committed to improving the lives of Aboriginal Elders through effective workforce development and community engagement.

  • Demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships with Aboriginal communities.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn about aged care systems and person-centred care principles.
  • Experience in training and workforce development, with strong communication skills.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate reporting records.
  • A current ‘C’ class driver’s licence and the willingness to travel across the Kimberley region.
  • Current National Police Clearance or a willingness to obtain one.

Salary & Benefits

The annual salary for this position is $86,780, with additional benefits including:
• Accommodation Allowance of $13,000 per annum pro-rata
• District Allowance of $2,920 (Single) or $5,840 (Double) per annum pro-rata
• Electricity Allowance of $1,440 per annum pro-rata
• Salary Sacrifice options up to $30,000 per annum (optional).
