Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community-controlled health service, founded in 1986, which provides centralised advocacy and resource support for 6 independent member services, as well as providing direct clinical services in a further 5 remote Aboriginal communities across the region and being the lead agency for Headspace Broome since 2008.
KAMS has successfully delivered high-quality, accessible comprehensive primary health care services over its 34 years of operation and has provided innovation and national leadership in areas such as health information management and evidence-based best practice in Aboriginal Health.
The Opportunity
As our next RTO Mental Health Educator, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the nationally recognised job-ready education of Social and Emotional Wellbeing Health Workers within KAMS.
Your key responsibility areas will be spread across Planning, Delivery, Assessment, Evaluation, and Compliance.
Responsibilities Include:
- Planning of the Certificate IV Mental Health training Program and any other relevant programs as directed
- Conducting assessments for Certificate IV as outlined in KAMS assessment strategies
- Participation in the recruitment of students for the Mental Health Program, conducting assessment of each student in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Managing the day-to-day classroom activities of students
Why You’ll Be Great in this Role
To be considered for this role, you’ll be a qualified Aboriginal Mental Health Worker or equivalent/higher with the demonstrated ability to teach adults in the vocational education sector. You should also hold a current TAE40116 (Training & Assessor) qualification.
Critical to your success in this position will be your ability to multitask when faced with competing priorities, your resilience, and your interpersonal skills. As you’ll be responsible for ensuring that all materials and programs are delivered in compliance with KAMS RTO standards, your organisational skills will also be a valuable asset.
Experience teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals will be highly regarded.
