Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services LTD (KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community controlled health service, founded in 1986, which provides centralised advocacy and resource support for 6 independent member services, as well as providing direct clinical services in a further 6 remote Aboriginal communities across the region.
KAMS has successfully delivered high-quality, accessible comprehensive primary health care services over its 30 years of operation and has provided innovation and national leadership in areas such as health information management and evidence-based best practice in primary health care.
The Kimberley region is located in the northern part of Western Australia and covers about 421,000 square kilometres. The Kimberley has only three towns with a population of more than 2,000 (Broome, Derby and Kununurra), and the total population is around 37,000. In addition to the sealed Route 1 which runs along the southern part of the area, the unsealed Gibb River Road runs through the heart of the region from Derby to the highway near Kununurra. Access to much of the region is by dirt road, air or sea.
About the Opportunity
KAMS now has an opportunity for a Nurse Coordinator apart of the Australian Family Partnership Program to join their friendly, multidisciplinary team in Kununurra WA, on a full-time basis. The Nurse Coordinator will facilitate the implementation and delivery of the Australian Family Partnership Program (AFPP) to pregnant women with an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander baby and their families using a therapeutic, partnership approach.
Essential Requirements:
- Nurse Coordinator will lead a Licence Maternal and Child health program ; working in partnership with the National Support Service (Charles Darwin University ) to meet fidelity and licensing requirements of AFPP.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in program management, including experience in managing a team
- Demonstrated experience in preparing reports for funding bodies according to program guideline
- Demonstrated knowledge and core skills in provision of reflective supervision.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills to mentor Registered Nurses and Family Partnership Workers to provide a comprehensive evidenced based maternal and child health program.
Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Awareness and understanding of KAMS strategic plan
- Contribute in developing and implementing strategies to meeting goals set in the provision of comprehensive primary health care to the Indigenous people of the Kimberley Region.
- Coordinate delivery of the AFPP including day to day operational supervision of team members and clinical supervision to support home visiting.
- Assign and monitor caseloads and data collection, undertake all clinical supervision activities and assess service delivery, client satisfaction and program efficiency using the Quality Framework.
- Maintain a positive work environment along with harmonious and cooperative relationships with fellow employees, management and clients.
- Proactively address WH&S hazards, incidents and injuries and adhere to infection control processes.
- Regularly monitor and review practices and the work environment to ensure a healthy and safe workplace in accordance with KAMS policies and procedures and legislative requirements.

- District allowance of $2,627 (single) or $5,254 (double);

- Annual Airfare of $1,800 after 12 months continuous service
