Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community-controlled health service, founded in 1986, which provides centralised advocacy and resource support for 6 independent member services, as well as providing direct clinical services in a further 5 remote Aboriginal communities across the region and being the lead agency for headspace Broome since 2008.
KAMS has successfully delivered high-quality, accessible comprehensive primary health care services over its 34 years of operation and has provided innovation and national leadership in areas such as health information management and evidence-based best practice in Aboriginal Health.

The Opportunity
As our next RTO Educator working full-time in the Kimberley region, Western Australia, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the nationally recognised job-ready education of Aboriginal Health Workers within KAMS.
This is a rewarding opportunity to empower the next generation of Aboriginal Health Workers to deliver culturally-informed care services and, in turn, help “Close the Gap” in Aboriginal Health outcomes.
Your key responsibility areas will be spread across Planning, Delivery, Assessment, Evaluation, and Compliance.
Responsibilities Include:
- Ensuring all materials for each unit of competency are up-to-date
- Collaborating with RTO Admin to ensure all facilities and tools required for training are ready prior to student commencement
- Delivering AHW programs in a culturally appropriate manner and seeking guidance from cultural advisers as required
- Conducting assessments for Certificates III and IV as outlined in KAMS assessment strategies
- Conduct evaluations for all training provided
- Managing the day-to-day classroom activities of students
Why You’ll Be Great in this Role
While being a qualified Aboriginal Health Worker is advantageous it is not considered essential. You will have the demonstrated ability to teach adults in the vocational education sector and a current TAE40116 (Training & Assessor) qualification.
Critical to your success in this position will be your ability to multitask when faced with competing priorities, your resilience, and your interpersonal skills. As you’ll be responsible for ensuring that all materials and programs are delivered in compliance with KAMS RTO standards, your organisational skills will also be a valuable asset.
Experience teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals will be highly regarded.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary package circa $122,180 per annum + superannuation, the package comprises of a host of benefits, including:

- Accommodation allowance up to $13,000 per annum
- Electricity allowance up to $1,440 per annum
- District allowance of up to $2,920 per annum for singles or $5,840 per annum for candidates with dependents
- Annual airfare allowance of $1,285
